The Luminatus Blue Eye is a stunning small freshwater rainbowfish prized for its brilliant blue eyes, colourful fins, and active schooling behaviour. Mature males can develop striking red to orange colouration through the fins and body, creating an impressive display when kept in a well-planted aquarium.

Their small adult size and peaceful nature make Luminatus Blue Eyes an excellent choice for nano and planted community aquariums. They are social fish and should be maintained in groups, where males will display their colourful fins to females and one another.

Feeding

Luminatus Blue Eyes have small mouths and should be offered appropriately sized foods. A quality micro pellet or finely crushed tropical flake can form the staple diet.

Supplement regularly with small frozen or live foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, and appropriately sized micro foods. A varied diet helps encourage healthy growth, excellent condition, and vibrant red, orange, and blue colouration.

Aquarium Care

A mature, well-planted aquarium is ideal, with plenty of plants around the sides and rear while maintaining open areas for swimming and displaying. Fine-leaved and floating plants provide additional shelter and help create a natural environment.

Gentle to moderate water movement, good filtration, and regular partial water changes will help maintain excellent water quality. Avoid housing them with large, aggressive, or highly competitive fish.

A secure aquarium lid is strongly recommended, as Blue Eyes are active fish and capable jumpers.
