Ambulia

Description
Ambulia is a beautiful freshwater stem plant known for its soft, finely divided green foliage and dense, feathery appearance. Its delicate leaves create excellent texture and movement in planted aquariums, making it an attractive choice for creating lush background growth.
When provided with suitable lighting and nutrients, Ambulia can grow quickly and develop into dense groups of bright green stems. Its fast growth also makes it useful for establishing new planted aquariums and providing additional cover for small fish, shrimp and fry.
Regular trimming helps keep the plant compact and encourages bushier growth.

Planting
Ambulia is best planted directly into aquarium substrate.
For best results:
- Separate stems carefully before planting
- Plant individual stems or small groups into the substrate
- Leave some space between stems for light and water circulation
- Avoid crushing or damaging the delicate foliage
- Use aquascaping tweezers for easier planting
- Trim established stems regularly to maintain the desired height and shape
Freshly trimmed stem sections can be replanted into the substrate to produce new plants.
Lighting & Growth
Ambulia is a relatively fast-growing aquarium plant when provided with suitable conditions.
Moderate lighting generally encourages healthy, compact growth. Under insufficient lighting, stems may become taller and more widely spaced as they grow towards the light.
CO₂ supplementation is not essential in many aquariums but can encourage faster, denser growth when combined with appropriate lighting and nutrients.
Fertilisation
Ambulia absorbs nutrients through both its leaves and roots and benefits from a balanced aquarium fertilisation program.
Depending on the aquarium setup, this may include:
- Complete liquid fertiliser
- Macronutrients where required
- Micronutrients and trace elements
- Root-zone nutrients
- Supplemental CO₂ in higher-demand planted aquariums
Always dose aquarium fertilisers according to the manufacturer's directions and the needs of your aquarium.
Trimming & Propagation
Ambulia responds well to regular trimming.
When stems become too tall:
- Cut the healthy upper section of the stem.
- Remove leaves from the lowest section if necessary.
- Replant the cutting into the substrate.
- Allow the remaining established stem to produce additional shoots.
Regular trimming can help create a dense, bushy background rather than a small number of long stems.
Aquarium Uses
Ambulia is particularly suitable for:
- Planted aquariums
- Community aquariums
- Aquascapes
- Shrimp tanks
- Fry and breeding aquariums
- Creating dense background growth
- Providing shelter for small fish
- Adding soft texture and movement to an aquascape
Its fine foliage also creates plenty of surfaces for microorganisms and biofilm, providing useful grazing areas for shrimp and small aquarium inhabitants.

Live Arrival
Please inspect live plants immediately upon arrival. If there is an issue with your order, contact Fins 'N' Feathers as soon as possible and within our applicable live-arrival period, providing clear photos where required.
Some temporary leaf loss, bending or reduced colour may occur following transport while the plant adjusts to its new aquarium conditions.
Ambulia is a live aquarium plant and natural variation should be expected. Individual plants may vary in height, fullness, colour and number of stems depending on growing conditions and maturity.
