Anubias - Large Assorted

Large Assorted Anubias are hardy and attractive freshwater aquarium plants known for their thick green leaves, strong rhizomes and slow, dependable growth. Their larger size makes them an excellent feature plant for established aquariums, providing instant greenery and structure around driftwood, rocks and other hardscape.

Anubias are particularly popular because they tolerate a wide range of aquarium conditions, perform well under relatively low lighting and do not require CO₂ supplementation to grow successfully.

Planting

Anubias grow from a thick horizontal structure known as a rhizome.

Do not completely bury the rhizome in aquarium substrate. A buried rhizome can begin to rot and may eventually cause the plant to die.

Large Anubias are particularly well suited to being:

• Attached to large pieces of driftwood
• Attached to aquarium rocks
• Positioned between pieces of hardscape
• Used as a feature plant
• Planted with the roots in substrate while keeping the rhizome exposed

Aquarium-safe plant glue, thread or fishing line can be used to temporarily secure the plant until its roots naturally attach to the hardscape.

Lighting & Growth

Anubias generally perform best under low to moderate aquarium lighting.

Because their leaves grow slowly, excessive lighting can encourage algae to develop on the leaf surfaces.

For healthy growth:

• Provide consistent low to moderate lighting
• Avoid excessively long lighting periods
• Maintain stable water conditions
• Provide appropriate aquarium plant nutrients
• Remove damaged or deteriorating leaves when necessary
• Perform regular aquarium maintenance

Anubias are naturally slow-growing plants, so patience is required when propagating or establishing new plants.
