Large Driftwood Anubias

Large Driftwood Anubias is an impressive ready-to-use aquarium feature combining natural driftwood with hardy live Anubias plants. The larger size creates an instant centrepiece, adding height, greenery, texture, and natural structure to freshwater aquariums and planted aquascapes.

Anubias is well known for being hardy and easy to maintain, making these driftwood creations suitable for beginner and experienced aquarium keepers alike. Its tough green leaves grow slowly and perform well under low to moderate lighting, with CO₂ supplementation not required for successful growth.

The large driftwood structure also provides valuable shelter, resting areas, and grazing surfaces for fish and shrimp. Plant Care

Anubias naturally grows attached to driftwood and rocks rather than requiring planting in aquarium substrate. The thick horizontal stem, known as the rhizome, should remain exposed to the water, as burying the rhizome can cause the plant to rot.

Simply position the driftwood securely in your chosen location within the aquarium. Anubias generally performs best under low to moderate lighting. Excessively strong lighting can encourage algae growth on its slow-growing leaves.

Remove damaged or ageing leaves when required and use a quality aquarium liquid fertiliser as part of your regular planted aquarium maintenance routine.

Aquascaping Ideas

Use Large Driftwood Anubias as the main centrepiece of your aquarium or combine it with aquarium rocks, smaller driftwood pieces, mosses, Java Ferns, Cryptocoryne, and other live plants to create a detailed natural aquascape.

Its larger structure can help create height and depth while providing shaded areas and natural hiding places. The driftwood and broad Anubias leaves also provide excellent resting and grazing surfaces for shrimp, catfish, and smaller community fish.

Live Arrival
