Preparation & Use

Rinse the driftwood thoroughly with clean water before placing it into your aquarium. Depending on the individual piece, soaking may be required before use to help the wood become fully waterlogged and sink naturally.

New driftwood may release tannins into the aquarium water, creating a yellow, amber, or brown tint. This is a natural process and is generally harmless to aquarium livestock. Pre-soaking the wood and performing regular water changes can help reduce tannin release if clearer water is preferred.

A temporary white or clear biofilm may also develop on newly submerged driftwood. This is common with natural wood and generally disappears naturally over time or can be gently removed during routine aquarium maintenance.

Aquascaping Ideas

Use Large Bare Driftwood as the main centrepiece of your aquascape or combine it with aquarium rocks, sand, gravel, smaller driftwood pieces, and live plants to create a detailed natural environment.

Its larger structure is excellent for creating caves, territories, shaded areas, and different levels throughout the aquarium. Anubias, Java Fern, Bucephalandra, Java Moss, and other epiphytic plants can be attached directly to the wood using aquarium-safe glue, cotton thread, or fishing line.

When positioning larger pieces, ensure the driftwood is stable and securely placed so it cannot shift or fall against the aquarium glass.

Unused driftwood may be returned in its original condition.
