Small Assorted Anubias are hardy and attractive freshwater aquarium plants known for their thick green leaves, slow growth and ability to thrive in a wide range of aquarium conditions.

Anubias are particularly popular in low-tech planted aquariums because they can grow successfully under relatively low lighting and do not require CO₂ supplementation. Their tough leaves and compact growth also make them excellent for attaching to driftwood, rocks and other aquarium hardscape.

Planting

Anubias grow from a thick horizontal structure called a rhizome.

Do not completely bury the rhizome in aquarium substrate, as this can cause it to rot.

For best results, Anubias can be:

• Attached to driftwood
• Attached to aquarium rocks
• Positioned between suitable pieces of hardscape
• Planted with the roots in substrate while keeping the rhizome exposed

Aquarium-safe plant glue, thread or fishing line can be used to secure the plant to hardscape until its roots naturally attach.

Lighting & Growth

Anubias are well suited to lower-light aquariums and generally do not require intense lighting.

Because their leaves grow slowly, excessive lighting can encourage algae to develop on the leaf surfaces.

For healthy growth:

• Provide low to moderate lighting
• Maintain stable water conditions
• Avoid excessively long lighting periods
• Remove damaged or heavily algae-covered leaves when necessary
• Provide appropriate aquarium plant nutrients
