Planting

Anubias grow from a thick horizontal structure known as a rhizome.

The rhizome should not be completely buried in aquarium substrate, as this can cause it to rot and potentially kill the plant.

Anubias can be:

• Attached to driftwood
• Attached to aquarium rocks
• Positioned between suitable pieces of hardscape
• Planted with the roots in substrate while keeping the rhizome exposed

Aquarium-safe plant glue, thread or fishing line can be used to temporarily secure the plant to hardscape until its roots naturally attach.

Because the leaves grow slowly, excessive lighting or excessively long lighting periods may encourage algae to develop on their surfaces.
