Harlequin Rasbora

The Harlequin Rasbora is a beautiful and popular freshwater schooling fish recognised for its warm copper to orange body colour and distinctive black triangular marking towards the rear of the body. Their peaceful temperament, active schooling behaviour, and attractive colouration make them an excellent choice for planted and tropical community aquariums.

Harlequin Rasboras are social fish and should be kept in groups, where they become more confident and display their natural schooling behaviour. A larger group creates an impressive display as the fish move together through the middle and upper areas of the aquarium.

Feeding

Harlequin Rasboras readily accept a variety of appropriately sized aquarium foods. Provide a quality tropical flake, micro pellet, or small granule as the staple diet.

Supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, and other appropriately sized foods. A varied diet helps maintain healthy growth, excellent body condition, and vibrant natural colouration.

Aquarium Care

A planted aquarium with plenty of open swimming space is ideal. Live plants, driftwood, and other natural features can be positioned around the sides and rear of the aquarium while leaving the centre open for schooling.

Good filtration, stable water parameters, and regular partial water changes will help keep Harlequin Rasboras healthy. Gentle to moderate water movement is generally suitable.

They are excellent community fish and can be kept with many similarly sized peaceful species, including Tetras, Corydoras, Gouramis, peaceful Rainbowfish, and other Rasboras.

A secure aquarium lid is recommended, as Rasboras may jump when startled.
